COST & OWNERSHIP
What does a small business website cost in Belgium?
Compare the cost of a working website over a year, not just the launch price. For a Belgian salon, tradesperson or small practice, the useful comparison includes languages, changes, hosting and who keeps the information current.
Compare the same job
Write down what a customer must be able to do: understand your services, check your location or service area, and contact you from a phone. Add the languages those customers use. A one-page site in two languages and a larger booking website are different jobs, even if both are described as a business website.
Ask each supplier to price the same scope. Separate website delivery from continuing work on your Google profile, review replies and content changes. A low launch fee does not tell you what next month's change will cost.
- List the pages, languages and contact or booking tools you need.
- Ask who supplies and checks the text and photographs.
- Request a written list of included updates and separately charged work.
Calculate the first year
For a one-off project, add the quoted build price, hosting, domain renewal, maintenance, translations and expected edits. For a subscription, add setup and twelve monthly payments, then any add-ons. Check the minimum term separately: a first-year comparison is not a statement that you can cancel at any time.
Navidu Start is €79 per month excluding VAT. Presence is €179, or €129 for the first 25 businesses, locked for 24 months. At that founding rate, twelve monthly payments total €1,548 excluding VAT, or €1,873.08 including 21% VAT. That covers the subscription payments only; optional extras and a later buyout are separate.
Ask what happens when you leave
Find out whose name is on the domain registration, who has access to the website and Google profile, and what an export contains. Ask whether another supplier can use that export and what you will need to rebuild or reconnect. Do this before signing, while you can still compare the answers.
Navidu's domain is in the client's name from day one. Founding terms are €0 setup, a 6-month minimum, then monthly with 1 month's notice. Standard terms are €0 setup with a 12-month minimum, or €490 setup and monthly cancellation. After the minimum, a full-export buyout costs 3 times the monthly fee. Confirm the applicable fee in your contract.
Choose the arrangement you can maintain
A one-off project can suit an owner who has someone to manage the site afterwards. A subscription can suit an owner who wants recurring changes handled for them. Compare who is responsible for what, rather than assuming either arrangement includes everything.
Before choosing, send a supplier one real change you expect to make: a new treatment, a seasonal offer or revised opening hours in several languages. Ask who does it, how you request it and whether it is included. The answer is often more useful than another design mock-up.
- Check whether the quote includes or excludes VAT.
- Keep the domain and account-access arrangements in writing.
- Compare ongoing work, minimum terms and exit costs alongside the monthly price.
